If you enjoyed watching Walt Disney produced animated films like sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood, and The Rescuers, if you also enjoyed watching Don Bluth produced animated movies like The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail and The Land Before Time, then please support this worthwhile project.

These animated films are of high quality and made by very talented people. I know some people think, “Well, whatever is being made is what I get to see. I have no control over it. I’ll watch whatever is made and my kids will watch anything they are shown”, BUT……….everyone has a big BUT (like Pee Wee Herman says), there is a reason certain films are well known, loved by many and watched over and over again. There is a reason certain artists are well known, regarded and praised for their works. There is a reason certain well known films, made by certain well known artists are popular with many, many people and these films stay with people’s memories for their life times. If we all wait and see what studios produce for us, then we can and will only accept anything that is put out there. It’s true you have no control over what is produced by others, but this is a chance to help someone produce an idea who already has a good track record.

The love for the art of making films gets ignored many times in the movie industry. Commerce seems to take over and quality gets lost in many cases. As time goes by, low quality and quantity takes precedence over singular high quality projects that take time, patience and precision, but we end up loving these types of films that were made with great artistic care and dedication. High quality traditional animated films like Walt Disney’s Snow White, Don Bluth’s The Secret of NIMH and Brad Bird’s The Iron Giant are great movies we love and love to tell others to watch. If you have kids and these are the movies that they get excited about and these are the movies as an adult that still hold your interest, then you know these movie are something special. As a creative person, not only do these movies connect me to my younger years as good memories, these movies inspired me to want to create something similar to what I am seeing and what is possible to create. If you liked Walt Disney’s and Don Bluth’s movies as a kid or now as an adult or you take your kids to movies like these, this project is one of those type’s of movies.

If you’d like to see more high quality animated films in the future, this traditional animated art form needs your support. This is about supporting the kind of quality you know you will get before the movie is made and not just accepting what you see put out there by the studios. If this art form is not supported, then seeing lots of great animation will be a thing of the past. It will be very limited and created by individuals who will dedicate their own time and money to complicated projects that might take years to be finished and seen. If we were to pretend this film didn’t need help to be made and it were to just come out like any other movie does, I know you would take your children to see it, simply for the fact it was there as an animated film to be seen. Since most people tend to bring there children to any animated film that’s out there, why not bring them to one guaranteed to be made with great care, lots of talent behind it and help that type of film be made for you and your children. Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are these highly creative people who love doing what they do and always put out stunning work every time. Please help give this worthy project a little push and help these greatly talented people try to bring you and your families a beautifully creative piece of artful entertainment.

As much as I can tell by my interest in animation, I have to add that I believe Don Bluth and Gary Goldman were instrumental in the revival of Disney animation. The late 80’s early 90’s Disney movies that we love today, I do think, were pushed into creation by the success Don Bluth and Gary Goldman were having with their animated movies. With his desire to restore the quality to animated films Don Bluth along with Gary Goldman produced The Secret of NIMH, An American Tale and A Land Before Time. These movies, in my opinion, were over shadowing what Disney studios were putting out. I believe the people at Disney were thinking, “We need to be the king of the animated movies like we were in the past.” Still all speculation by me, but I have a feeling this was the case.

For me, I liked animation for the art of it because I liked drawing and then making drawings move, but what really sparked my interest in it again at the age of 12 or 13 was Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace for the style of it. The evolution of my interest went from these video games of Don Bluth’s animation, then to Disney animation because of Don Bluth’s connection to it and seeing that Disney used Don Bluth type animation, which is what I called it. Then I was back to being interested in all types of animation again because of the art form, but Don Bluth and these laser disc games are still the catalyst for me. I love trying my best to imitate the style used in these games. There is an unexplainable energy there for me.

Some might think of this project as just a movie version of a video game, instead just think of it as an animated movie or simply just a movie you’d like to see. Many might not remember Dragon’s Lair so they might think, “I don’t know the game, so I’m not really interested”, BUT…….again……but many might not have heard of or known the book "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H.", but that didn’t stop them from seeing The Secret of NIMH movie. My point being, if this Dragon’s Lair project was just presented to you as a film like the Secret of NIMH was, without knowing anything else, you would take a chance to see it the same way. So if you like movies and want to see a movie and art form with a high degree of excellence, I urge you to please consider helping Don and Gary make this project a reality.

Now i don't have kids or husband. But i remember Don bluth's "The land before time" when i was a child. I loved that type of animation you know. I didn't watched so many of Don's movies. But i've seen many disney movies when i was a child. Now i mostly watch anime and japanese drama series. But even though i do i appreciate the art style of the american animations you know. And i think many kids and family love it. When you think about how much times it must have take the artists did to create a long animation. You might be really proud and amazed how the result is. I'm definitely amazed over their art style. Not only the japanese animation but also the american animation. It's actually very sad how the hand drawn american animation's slowly moving away :( When there are new movies in cinemas it's only 3D animation's and not hand drawn animations. I really don't know why but it must be a popular style now these days. But i really get inspired by the artwork of the movies. Specially because i'm an artist. I always get inspired of what i see. And i really think that Don and Gary has been inspired by what they see too. I hope they don't stop their work and i appreciate their artworks. Let's hope the best for them.

PS: I like your artworks :)
